CLUB POLICIES highlights
PARENTS/CARERS MUST REMAIN ON SITE
As you can imagine, club nights can be quite busy and safety is of paramount importance. It is Little Athletics Queensland policy that all athletes (Little Athletics & Tiny Tots only) must have their parent or guardian onsite at all times. In the event something happens you need to be there. This is only fair to everyone. Additionally, we need your help to run the night. Please agree to abide by this policy at all times before joining. Thank you for understanding.

SIGN ON SHEETS
Sign on sheets are provided at the canteen every club night. Please ensure a parent/guardian signs in all athletes before events begin. This requirement serves multiple purposes such as insurance requirements and attendance records (should an issue arise over results we will first confirm you were there).
CANCELLATIONS
As an outdoor sport, athletics is subject to weather conditions. At times it will be necessary to cancel a club night. We understand this can be frustrating and disappointing but we ask you please respect the decision made by the committee. As always, safety is put first and the decision is always carefully considered. Sometimes an amended program will be run. This may mean we only do track events due to the wet conditions being inappropriate for the equipment. Sometimes we will proceed even in the rain or uncomfortable weather. It's always your choice whether to attend or not. Notice of cancellation or an amended program will be put in our Facebook group and this website as soon as possible (Click URGENT NEWS also available in the footer).
A decision needs to be made early enough to give people notice but late enough to make the best call. Please refrain from ringing the centre manager to find out if club night is on. Please also avoid asking the local schools as they are not associated directly with the club. Finally, please realise that even if a cancellation doesn't make sense, the decision was made for a reason. For example, it may be fine by the time we're due to start but earlier wet weather may have prevented the line marking from being completed.
CONTACTING CENTRE MANAGER
All members of our committee are volunteers and consequently do have other commitments. Please refrain from contacting the centre manager unless your matter is both important and urgent. Firstly, we ask you attempt to find the answer to your question on our website. If you're unsuccessful then it is preferred you send a message via this website. We endeavour to answer your queries quickly and this will let us know if there is information missing from the website. This method also allows other committee members to assist the centre manager. Having said that, please do make contact if you desire.
REPORT AN ISSUE
If you identify a problem then please let a committee member know as soon as possible. We prefer to deal with a problem or issue as soon as it arises so we can all get back to the business of athletics. If you have a concern or a suggestion we're happy to hear from you. Please respect not all ideas can be accommodated. Remember we're all volunteers, here for the athletes. If the matter is not urgent then please contact us online. Thank you.
EQUIPMENT CARE
All athletes are expected to treat all equipment with due care and respect. This is only fair to all other members and will reduce our costs in avoiding the need to replace or repair unnecessarily. Thank you for your cooperation.
SAFETY
All athletes are expected to take responsibility for their safety and that of others. Clearly, younger athletes will need supervision and guidance in this area which is one of the many reasons we need your help. Athletics involves people running fast and throwing objects therefore care must be taken at all times. Athletes must keep to the designated safe areas when waiting for their turn. Shoes must always be worn (see below for more).
BEHAVIOUR
Poor behaviour affects everyone and is not acceptable. It is not fair on other members, children and volunteers to be treated disrespectfully at any time. Issues can and should be discussed and resolved politely. Dangerous behaviour is not tolerated. Parents/Carers will be asked to intervene when necessary to ensure the safety and well being of all members. Consequences, if deemed appropriate, will be as determined by committee members.
TRIALS
New members to the club (Little Athletics only) are entitled to trial two (2) club nights in the season before needing to commit to full membership. There is a nominal fee required (currently $2 per athlete per night). This is a great opportunity to try it out first to make sure Little Athletics is right for the athlete. During any trial period, the athlete does not accumulate points for the club competition. No records are officially recorded and the athlete is not entitled to participate in Little Athletics Queensland sponsored events.
